The Collection of the Season is Ready to Bloom

May we invite you to discover the match of the season? As Netflix and Shondaland’s hit series, Bridgerton, returns for its third season, here at Liberty we are celebrating the romance and Regency of the ‘Ton, with a collaborative collection of exquisite botanical fabrics, created in artistic partnership between Liberty Fabrics & Bridgerton.

Across nine uniquely crafted floral prints, Liberty’s print heritage and Bridgerton’s enthralling narrative entwine. Each design features details and motifs drawn from Liberty’s extensive archive, with inspirations ranging from Regency era print books to 1960s scarves: redrawn, recoloured and reimagined for the modern modiste on Tana Lawn™ cotton and luxurious silks.

In celebration of the collection, designer Huishan Zhang created a couture gown using one of the Belgravia Silk fabrics from the collection, as seen on actress Hannah Dodd, who plays the youngest Bridgerton sister in the show's third series.

Join us, as we delve into the stories and inspirations behind the collection, and prepare to fall in love…

The Perfect Match

With its contemporary, modernised interpretation of Regency England, Bridgerton makes the perfect partner for Liberty: bonded by a mutual passion for storytelling, and a visionary take on history.

With both parties sharing roots in the 1800s, Liberty has been at the cutting-edge of arts and design for almost 150 years, with innovation steeped into our iconic flagship’s Tudor walls. In fact, founder Arthur Lasenby Liberty once said he: "was determined not to follow existing fashions but to create new ones", introducing diverse creativity and original designs to his London clientele. This ethos remains today, grounded in a passion for reimagining the past with a modern eye.

For its eagerly anticipated third season, we make our long-awaited return to the ‘Ton under new showrunner Jess Brownell. Here, we find Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) stepping into the spotlight as she attempts to move on from her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and find a husband. But the path is never smooth in Bridgerton, with fractured alliances and hidden romance at every turn, in a series brimming with gossip, glamour and mischief.

Much as Bridgerton presents the Regency era through a contemporary lens, this collaboration draws on Liberty’s design heritage and archive to craft prints fitting for the modern-day maker.

Lose Yourself in History

The Liberty Fabrics & Bridgerton collection is comprised of nine botanical designs, each in three colourways, uniquely developed by the Liberty Fabrics design team using historical prints and fabrics discovered in our archive. Inspired by the iconic Regency fashions of Bridgerton, as well as the tantalising romances, furtive whispers and enticing gossip characteristic of the ‘Ton, these archive designs are reimagined and recoloured for the modern day.

Encompassing an enchanting breadth of inspirations, the prints are divided into three Chapters, each bound by a common theme, motif or mood. Penelope’s Garden pays homage to the exuberant gardens of the Regency era and Bridgerton’s frivolous parties with exuberant blooms inspired by creations from the 1920s to the 1960s. Regency Bouquet, with its opulent, grand displays, draws on the extravagant soirees and lavish costumes of society balls. Finally, Botanical Trellis, a delicate chapter that focuses on intricate floral details and meandering foliage, with archive prints from across the 1800s.

Crafted for Liberty Fabrics at our Italian mill near Milan, each design is printed onto Liberty’s Tana Lawn™ cotton, with three designs also reworked in three colourways on our luxurious silks.
