Shopping for high end skincare brands can feel like one of beauty’s trickier tasks. Unless, that is, you find yourself perusing the shelves of Liberty’s iconic beauty hall. Our expert beauty buyers have done the hard graft for you, cherry picking only the most efficacious skincare products from the cutting edge of skin science. In other words, they’ve already done the legwork to figure out if that fancy moisturiser or this high tech serum is actually worth your money; no scrolling through endless product reviews required.
But now, our buyers are extending this dermatological helping hand one step further with the launch of Best Face Forward, the latest in Liberty’s line of expert beauty kits. Containing £423 worth of high end skincare products for only £100, consider it your shortcut to finding the very best luxury skincare brands (and their expert-approved hero products) in one ready-to-go routine.
But which brands made the cut? Here, discerning beauty buyer Emily Sissons shares why she rates each and every one. Read, and then drop a kit into your basket before they’re all gone.
“I really love this Brazilian beauty brand. They harvest many of their ingredients in the Amazon and have a real focus on sustainability. The Jungle Firming Oil, you put it on damp skin, it’s really lightweight and makes your skin feel super soft and nourished, and the scent is incredible. It’s a great one to take on holiday, to slather on in the evening on top of your favourite body lotion to give you a nice glow. You can also use it on the ends of your hair.”
“Known for her facials, Dr Barbara Sturm has a real cult following, and it’s well deserved. She’s so knowledgeable and her products work, you can see it in the before and afters. It's no wonder her line is considered one of the best beauty brands around. We selected the Night Serum for this kit, which is an amazing anti-ager and boosts the skin’s nightly renewal process, so you wake up super glowing skin. Use it as the cornerstone of your night time skincare routine.”
“Another doctor-led brand that’s new to the beauty hall, Zelens is already really popular at Liberty. For the kit, we picked the Glacier Foam Renewing Cleanser, a lovely cleanser that lifts away impurities, oil and makeup and doesn’t strip the skin. It’s the opposite of those cleansers that leave you feeling squeaky clean; you don’t want that. And it’s also got mild fruit AHAs that gently exfoliate the skin.”
“This product, the Anti-Pollution Hydration Mist, does exactly what it says on the tin, really. It’s great for anyone who spends a lot of time looking at a screen, as it protects from blue light, as well as environmental pollutants and it’s really great for setting makeup. It’s a mist that really does something.”
“Verso is known for an ingredient called Retinol 8, which is basically eight times more effective than standard retinol, without the irritation, and it’s found in the Lip Serum. It’s really great for anyone that’s noticed a loss of volume in their lips. You simply apply it and then wait a few minutes before applying any makeup on top.”
“I love the ingredients aspect of Irene Forte, everything is so well considered, and she finds the best natural ingredients that are still really effective. The prickly pear in this face cream is harvested in Sicily, and it also has antioxidant ingredients inside to protect the skin. It somehow feels so transportative whenever you use it.”
“Founded by Dr Anita Sturnham, Decree is a brand that’s all about simplifying skincare so the products are really hard working and multi-use. Everyone that tries it loves the SOS Revitalising Sheet Mask, myself included. I use it once a week to hydrate and refresh my skin.”
“Omorovicza uses healing thermal water from Hungary in all its products, including Omoroessence. It helps the skin to retain moisture and works on all skin types. You just pat a few drops onto the skin after cleansing, and then continue with the rest of your routine like serums and moisturiser.”
