A Case for Partying On

If you’re all for sending 2021 out with a bang, dress for drama and turn up the ante on a night like no other

Shop the Party Edit

It’s a night that divides us, but sometimes it just doesn’t seem right to let New Year’s Eve go unnoticed. So, whether you’re venturing into the night or making the kitchen your dancefloor, send out 2021 with the music turned up and a glass in hand. Doubling as the ultimate excuse to tear up the rule book and dress for impact, we’re advocating a style code that favours power, strength, and glitter in abundance, paving the way for brighter times ahead – with guidance from UOMA Beauty founder, Sharon Chuter for making the celebration count…

Life is a gift, and it is amazing to see each new year begin – it has become very introspective for me. I used to rock NYE’s like no man’s business! New Year’s Eve is an opportunity to think about the year that has passed, look ahead, and have a personal celebration. It is usually my sister and I, and family – we chill, we laugh, we have a glass of bubbly and take it easy.

The Wardrobe

There’s one night of the year when standard rules go out of the window, so wear your fashion bold, embellished and shot through with metallics. All-over print turns up the volume on easy silhouettes or do clean lines in sumptuous fabrics to let your accessories lead.

It’s all about sparkles! Almost Great Gatsby-ish. I would always wear a mini black dress, with embellishments and stones. I think New Year’s Eve is the time to go for the max.

The Makeup Kit

Starting late and ending later means your makeup needs longevity. Keep it simple, pairing perfect skin with a power lip or graphic wing, or daub on the glitter for true disco impact that only looks better once it’s a little worn in – think scattered at the corners of the eye, or as liquid metal shadow.

Seeking a shortcut? Makeup artist Lisa Potter-Dixon has curated the Go Big Then Go Home kit with your party makeup essentials in mind – complete with everything you need to take it off again once the celebrations wrap.

I’d go for either a strong smokey eye or a real big cat eye wing and a red lip. I go BOLD when I celebrate NYE. My advice, indulge in a beautiful rebellion.

The Accessories

Bestowers of drama and your fastest way to offset simplicity, drive your look up a notch with the right accessories. Chunky chain, light-catching earrings, or an oversized jewel on your sipping hand, upsize your jewellery and keep bags small and playful – think angular geometric forms, or a puffy, cloud-like clutch.
