In Appreciation of: Malin + Goetz’s Strawberry Eau de Parfum
The latest recruit to the Liberty Beauty Hall of Fame celebrates the humble garden strawberry – although not quite as you know it
We may be nearing the end of the horticultural strawberry season, but as far as olfactory is concerned, it’s only just beginning. Meet Malin + Goetz’s Strawberry Eau de Parfum (£78 for 50ml), a rather delicious reimagining of the common garden strawberry. But take it from us – you won’t have smelled anything quite like it before.

The Rise to Fame
A mainstay on the New York beauty scene, Malin + Goetz has long been adored the world over for its slick, modern take on skincare, bodycare and candles. But it’s in fragrance where the brand particularly shines. Its perfumes tend to headline a single note (think: leather, vetiver or even cannabis), providing a fresh take on scents you already know and love. But strawberry is perhaps one of the more novel notes, a scent that until now, hasn’t had much airtime on Fragrance Hall shelves.
There’s actually no ‘real’ strawberry inside the bottle, but rather a clever blend of notes that manage to conjure up its scent, or at least a fresh reinterpretation of it. It melds bergamot with pink pepper, musks with jasmine petals, topped off with a little bit of orris root. The result is something not nearly as sweet as you might imagine. Instead, it’s cosy and comforting. Just the thing for seeing out the end of the summer – and wearing well into the colder months.

The Star Quality
The best bit? It isn’t just doused on your collarbones that you can experience the joy of Strawberry. So beloved by Malin + Goetz fans, the brand has decided to translate the scent into both scented candle and perfume oil form. Pop the latter in your pocket for midday top-ups, and use the former to scent pretty much any room in the home. Heavenly.
