How would describe Skin Rocks in one sentence?
Skin Rocks was like giving birth to the culmination of my 27 years’ experience in beauty and 40 years in in retail.
What’s one thing you’ve learned you launched Skin Rocks, that you wish you had known sooner?
Can I be honest? There's actually nothing I wish I’d known sooner. When you’re launching a brand, especially in an industry as competitive as beauty, surprises can be a sign that you weren’t fully prepared. Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in nearly every aspect of the beauty industry—from working on the shop floor to consulting for major brands. I’ve witnessed first hand the challenges and mistakes others have faced, and I’ve learned invaluable lessons from those experiences. This extensive background gave me the confidence and insight to launch Skin Rocks with a solid foundation, knowing I was as ready as I could possibly be. The journey has been about execution rather than unexpected lessons.
Why did you create The Moisturiser?
I created The Moisturiser because cleansing and moisturizing are the cornerstones of any effective skincare routine. We often refer to them as the 'bookends' because they set the stage for everything else you do. Simply put, if you’re not nailing the basics—cleansing your skin properly and keeping it well-moisturized—then all the other steps in your routine won't be as effective. The Moisturiser was designed to ensure that everyone can master this essential step, providing the foundation for healthy, glowing skin
What’s your favourite thing about The Moisturiser?
It’s just a brilliant all-round moisturiser for all skins. It combines skin-conditioning and hydration-boosting actives such as pro-vitamin D3 and ceramides alongside antioxidants to bolster your skin to be the best it can be. It support barrier function and prevents water loss and is really comfortable and calming on the skin.
Do you have any expert tips, or favourite ways to apply it?
Start with a pea-sized amount—using the back of your nail to scoop it out helps ensure you get the right amount. Then, gently apply it to your face, and smooth it evenly across your face and décolletage. The key is to make sure every area is covered without overloading your skin. This ensures your skin gets the hydration it needs without feeling heavy or greasy.
When it comes to advent calendars: are you an “open all at once” or a “strictly one day at a time” person?
Don’t be sick. One day at a time obviously!
