Kate Moss is a rare example of a woman who truly needs no introduction. Tastemaker, supermodel and inspiration for a generation of women’s wardrobes, Moss has been at the forefront of British fashion and culture since the early 1990s.
Once synonymous with the dazzling hedonism of the ‘90s and ‘00s, these days life for Moss focuses on one thing: balance. It was this that inspired the creation of her wellbeing brand, COSMOSS, which launched in 2022.
Described as focusing on luxury rituals and mindful beauty, the brand’s selection of products is created to indulge, restore and revive the soul and senses.
As COSMOSS makes its debut at Liberty, Kate Moss shares the story behind the brand and her passion for finding balance within her every day
THE MAKING OF COSMOSS
What’s the story behind COSMOSS – how would you describe the brand ethos?
My business partner Pawel [Walicki] approached me when he heard how I’d taken up meditation and yoga to bring more balance to my life. We worked with my team to create this intimate line of products that are authentic to me and where I’m at in my life. Everything we do is true to me.
What inspired you to launch a wellbeing brand?
I’m not a wellbeing guru by any means… I just want to share these things that help me and “tricks” that I would share with friends. Inviting others to experience that felt like the right next step.
Describe COSMOSS in an elevator pitch…
Soulful, sensual…it’s about taking five minutes out of your day to indulge in yourself. To restore yourself and give back to your wellbeing.
Talk us through your favourite restorative daily rituals…
I start every day with a cup of my Dawn Tea to wake me up gently. I try and do some sort of movement each morning; some yoga or a walk maybe. Then I love to use my Golden Nectar with a gua sha to give myself a facial massage.
What does the idea of balance mean to you and how do you achieve it?
Life is all about balance. Not denying who you are but taking time to centre yourself and connect with the world around you. I feel most balanced when I’m in the countryside with my daughter.
You describe Sacred Mist as “more than just a scent” – what makes it unique, and what do you love most about it?
When my friends first smelt Sacred Mist they said: “it smells like you”. It’s a very personal scent, the whole process from start to finish. It’s a part of me.
What does success look like to you?
Working with the young talent at my agency [KMA] and helping carve out their own careers.
When are you at your most creative?
I’m inspired by the people around me that I’ve worked with for years. Working together on anything is just magic.
What are your three best tips for creativity?
Trust your instinct. That’s all you need.
