The Marrakech Edit: Liberty Fabrics’ Pattern Garden Collection

Explore a collection inspired by the eclectic patterns and textures of Morocco.

By: Team Liberty

Created for Liberty’s Marrakech Edit, the Pattern Garden collection for Spring Summer 2026 unfolds as a richly layered exploration of Morocco’s visual language. Drawing on our own storied archives while looking outward to the country’s textiles, marketplaces, architecture and abundant gardens, the collection presents eight distinctive designs, alive with colour, pattern and floral detail. Each piece captures a sense of place - vivid, textured and immersive - brought to life on Liberty’s signature Tana Lawn™ cotton, with a refined, scaled-down selection shimmering on the lustrous Codrington Silk Lurex.

As the exquisitely curated Marrakech Edit lands at Liberty on the Fourth Floor, take a journey into a vibrant, dynamic collection inspired by the artisanal heritage of Morocco, transforming our Tudor Halls into a kaleidoscope of expressionist elegance.

Akinola

Originally designed in 1892, this archival design has been reimagined by the Liberty design studio. Reminiscent of expressive, gestural paintings, it captures the colourful, decorative spirit of Moroccan design.

Moroccan Flowers

This charming botanical print has been awaiting rediscovery in Liberty’s archive since 1971. Featuring a multitude of simplified spherical flowers and small leafy sprigs, this design incorporates an abstract quality, almost forming an all-over speckled texture.

Circus Stripe

Hand-painted in gouache by the Liberty studio in 1982, Circus Stripe brings a playful geometric to the collection. Directional bands are enlivened with chevrons, spots and rectangles, while a gently undulating layout introduces a sense of movement and rhythm.

Basket Weave

First designed in 1988, Basket Weave has been reworked into a tighter, more defined repeat. Inspired by the intricate woven carpets and textiles of Morocco, the design captures the meticulousness and intricacy of artisanal craftsmanship through its structured yet tactile pattern.

Dotty Check

An archival design from 1982, Dotty Check recalls the charm of traditional block printing. Its interplay of simple colour contrasts and repeating motifs creates a lively surface, rich in texture and visual energy.

Macedonia Blanket

Originally designed in 1968 for Yves Saint Laurent during Bernard Nevill’s tenure as Liberty’s creative director, this bold geometric is reissued with a contemporary sensibility. Reduced in scale, the pattern has been carefully re-engineered to reveal more of its intricate repeat within a finished garment.

Papercut Petals

Developed within the Liberty design studio, Papercut Petals explores florals through a collage lens. Built from hand-cut shapes of colour, the bold composition captures the spontaneity and layered beauty of paper craft.

Patchwork Zebra

Discovered in the archive and first produced in 1955, Patchwork Zebra is reinterpreted with a contemporary edge. Its classic animal print is fragmented and collaged, then overprinted with abstract spots to create a playful, modernised surface.
