This week’s note comes from Trish McEvoy, who founded her eponymous brand based on the belief that makeup should be two things: joyful and simple. Over 40 years later, and her makeup and skincare lines are beloved for their high-impact results and luxurious formulas.
With Trish McEvoy’s Intense Gel Eyeliner appearing in this year’s Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar, Trish sat down with Liberty to share her founder’s view on what makes it, and the rest of the brand, quite so special.

How would you describe your brand in one sentence?
Beauty confidence achieved by demystifying your daily routine with results-oriented products.
What’s one piece of advice, a life lesson, or approach to working - that you wish you had known sooner?
Don’t sweat the small stuff! Life's too short to get caught up in the little things that don’t really matter.
Why did you create the Intense Gel Eyeliner?
I created the Intense Gel Eyeliner because my clients want to put their makeup on, forget about it, enjoy their life, and when they look in the mirror, nothing has moved.
What’s your favourite thing about the product?
What I love most about Intense Gel Eyeliner is how easy it is to apply—it is a longwear gel liner in pencil form that glides on and stays put all day without smudging or budging.
Do you have any expert tips, or favourite ways to use it?
I like using it as an invisible liner between the lashes to make the lashes look longer and thicker, giving my eyes more definition.
When it comes to advent calendars: are you an “open all at once” or a “strictly one day at a time” person?
It all depends on the day! If I get it on a day that I want everything now, I’m going to open them all up. If I get it on a day where I want to hold on to the excitement, I will open day by day!
