The Synopsis

On the bottle of this multi-purpose hair oil it states that this is an ‘absolute beautifying potion’, and there certainly is something of a magical quality to its detangling, hair smoothing, shine-boosting powers. From hydrating dry ends to helping to detangle stubborn knots or adding the kind of shine usually only achievable in the salon, a little oil goes a very long way. It’s no wonder that Davines OI Oil, £41, has long revelled in its cult status.

The Rise to Fame

Italian hair care brand Davines, pronounced [DA-VEE-NESS] is a beauty insider favourite. As well as creating high performance hair products, the brand is constantly working on improving its sustainability credentials. For instance, many of the ingredients used are grown on the regenerative family farm in Parma. This oil has long been loved by professional hairstylists and at-home users alike, becoming something of a jewel in Davines' haircare crown.

The Credentials

OI Oil is the hero product (in our opinion) in the OI range, a line of haircare which uses roucou oil as its hero ingredient. Found in the Amazon, roucou is derived from the fruit of the achiote (no, we hadn’t heard of it either) which is apparently 100 times richer in beta-carotene than carrots. A powerful antioxidant, when applied to hair it has all manner of hair perfecting benefits, from smoothing frizz to enhancing shine and detangling.

The Star Quality

If you have fine hair and usually avoid hair oils like the plague for fear that they will weigh down strands, fear not. OI Oil is lightweight enough to be teased through all hair types, whether fine, dry or even coarse hair leaving it glossier, swishier and (fundamentally) never greasy.
