The Liberty Apartment: Styling the House of Liberty Collection
This season, take inspiration from Liberty’s latest in-store installation, bringing Liberty's interior fabrics and wallpaper collections to life
By: Team Liberty
Step into The Liberty Apartment – an immersive space on the Fourth Floor of our Great Marlborough Street store dedicated to Liberty Fabrics’ recently launched The House of Liberty Collection. Our Tudor halls have been transformed with armfuls armfuls of rolling panoramic landscapes, blossoming trails, and painterly ditsies offset with sophisticated geometrics and sartorial details - a saga told through scenic murals, opulent wide-width bases, and lustrous grass-cloths, full of luxurious textures and depth of colour. Here’s how to incorporate the hypnotic maximalism of The Liberty Apartment in your own home.
Whether you choose to decorate your walls with bold stripes or dancing florals, we have fabrics to accompany them in abundance. While big bold prints might seem scary, if you follow our advice, it won’t seem so daunting – here’s some room-by-room inspiration to get you started…
Create a Cohesive Colour Palette
Colour is one of the most powerful ways to express individuality in a space. When thoughtfully layered, it creates a refined flow that connects each room into a harmonious whole. The key to mixing richly patterned wallpapers and textiles lies in a cohesive palette that carries throughout the home. Start by drawing tones from existing elements - floors, doors, windows and prints - to repeat, accent and unify the scheme. Here, The Liberty Apartment incorporates Clover Club in the shade Robin's Egg on the bedroom walls, and Twill Stripe in the shade Kelp for the curtains.
Embrace Pattern Play
Start with a hero print that sets the tone for the entire scheme, then layer in complementary patterns and fabrics to support the look. Balance intricate florals with something structured, such as a stripe or check, and let your colour palette - whether bright and uplifting or deep and moody - shape the atmosphere of the room. Add depth by layering plenty of texture, experimenting with fabric swatches side by side and moving them around the space to see which shades lead and which recede - like in The Liberty Apartment, where curtains made from the Bombazine print in the colourway Lapis contrasts strikingly with Twill Stripe in the same colourway. This tactile balance creates a scheme that feels thoughtful yet effortless, while choosing fabrics that are both beautiful and durable ensures the space is ready for everyday living.
Add The Finishing Touches
Often, it’s the smallest details that give a home its soul. A statement lampshade, layered cushions or a gallery wall of treasured art quietly bring personality to a room. Stacks of books, fresh stems and collected objects add instant character. Thoughtfully chosen, these finishing touches create a space that feels layered, lived-in and entirely your own. Here, the Prospect Road Velvet Cushions by Liberty tie in perfectly with the Prospect Road-inspired wallpaper.
