Just one of four new scents to join Liberty’s line-up of award-winning candles, Aloha Betsy, £52 is a scented reimagining of one of Liberty’s most-loved archival prints, a tropical take on the iconic Betsy floral. While we’d never claim a favourite (if you ask us, every room of the house deserves its own signature scent), we think you'll find Aloha Betsy, and the bright, billowing clouds of fresh florals and fruits it emits, suitably transportative right now.
The Rise to Fame
Liberty’s first collection landed back in early 2022 to rapturous applause, the translation of four of our iconic archival prints cast into scented candle form. In fact, Hera, £52, the candle inspired by our beloved peacock feather print, was even awarded the title of Best Home Fragrance by the prestigious Fragrance Foundation. The second collection is just as decadent as the first, bringing four new fabrics – Stately Bouquet, Hazy Days, Danuna and Aloha Betsy – to life through artisanal olfactory.
The Credentials
Just like the rest of the Liberty scented candle collection, Aloha Betsy's richly-scented wax is hand-poured into a reusable glass vessel, tinted to resemble that satisfying shade of buttery archive paper, making this a rather beautiful object, whether it’s flickering away or left unlit.
The Star Quality
The real charm of Aloha Betsy lies in the sense of cleanliness it creates, sending big wafts of fresh, airy scent around whichever room you choose to light it. That comes courtesy of notes like lush, juicy fig, crisp lily-of-the-valley and fragrant sweet pea, three botanicals, which – when muddled together and seeped into a vegan soy and coconut wax – create an incredibly uplifting, ever-so-slightly tropical aroma, like opening your windows wide on a fresh spring day.
