The Dream Date Night Makeup Look

Revel in the hazy thrill of the pre-date lead-up with this simple yet special beauty look

By: Shannon Peter

If the company is right, it doesn’t really matter what you wear on a date. But that’s not to say it doesn’t pay to feel confident in how you present yourself. And a big part of that is deciding on a date night makeup look. Where better to start than Byredo's collection of warm, flattering tones and multi-use formulas. Here, Byredo makeup artists Jun Sato and Elliot Banks show us the ropes.

Cloud of Colour

Byredo Kajal in Bhoora Bhoora

You can easily use this soft kajal liner as a cream eyeshadow. “Scribble a patch of eyeliner onto the back of your hand and then use a brush to transfer onto the eyelid,” recommends Jun. “If you apply a cream product as the base, it’ll cling to the powder eyeshadow you apply on top, and improve the pigment payoff.” Buff a soft halo of colour over the entire eyelid.

Up the Ante

Byredo Eyeshadow 5 Colours in Desert Road

On top of your base, next layer up the intensity using the warm terracotta shade Sandalwood from the Desert Roads palette. “Pat on top of the base to build up the colour, then take a clean brush and buff it in circular motions to blend and soften the edges,” Jun continues. Note that a clean brush makes all the difference. “Apply too much product and you won’t get the gradient effect you’re after,” Jun adds. Finish with a lighter shade to highlight the centre of the lid, up and over the crease.

Lip Service

Byredo Tinted Lip Balm in Argila

For the lips, try out Argila, one of the brand's Tinted Lip Balms. “To apply, start from the centre and work outwards. This will mean you’ll accentuate rather than flatten the lip shape. Then, use a brush to blend it out to the rest of the lips," directs Jun. Make your lipstick work double duty by using any excess as a blush. “Tap your fingertips on your lips, then pat gently across the contour of the cheek,” Elliot advises.

Let There Be Light

Byredo Colour Stick in Vienna

Byredo’s colour sticks are designed to be used anywhere on the face, Vienna included. “It’s really balmy and hydrating, great for highlighting the high points and planes of the face,” flags Jun. “It’ll give you a glow without the need for glitter. Apply it where the sunlight lands naturally, so the T-zone, chin, cheekbones and Cupid’s bow.
