Autumn Interiors: The New Brands to Know

As the colder months draw near, turn your home into a cosy sanctuary filled with inspiring objects

This season at home, we’re celebrating the joy of art and craft: filling our homes with pieces that uplift and delight. Beautifully made objects, impeccable design heritage and details to bring a smile to your face. It’s this blend of elegance and whimsy that unites some of the newcomers to our homeware assortment, including Anya Hindmarch’s cheeky ‘Anya LIFE’ collection and the charming illustrations of Parisian artist Marin Montagut. Read on to meet some of the names to look out for this season.

Anya Hindmarch

British designer Anya Hindmarch has won a loyal following for her blend of classic design, expert craftsmanship, and witty sense of humour. She’s both practical and pioneering - a case in point, her memorable ‘I am not a plastic bag’ totes, which raised awareness around plastic waste, whilst also becoming every fashion enthusiast’s favourite bag. Now she’s bringing that same personality to the interiors world, with a line of playful homewares featuring her signature googly eyes.

Marin Montagut

Born in Toulouse to antique dealer parents, illustrator Marin Montagut moved to Paris aged 19, determined to make his artistic dreams a reality. Fast forward to today, and he remains as charmed by the city as he was as a young man. This ongoing romance is reflected in his pieces - delicately illustrated homewares which capture the spirit of Paris. His work feels like the lights of Montmartre, twinkling over the city, or reading a book by the Seine on a summer evening.

John Derian

Across the pond in New York City, we meet an artist that shares a similar attitude to his work. Decoupage artist John Derian is keeping the spirit of New York’s artistic history alive, employing traditional analogue techniques that are a gentle rebellion against the digital world. In his studio, a team of artisans meticulously cut out paper images, which are then set beneath glass to create Derian’s signature paperweights and plates.

Boncoeurs

Another French brand transporting us back to the bohemian spirit of early 20th Century Paris is Boncoeurs. Founded by two sisters, the name is a ‘double entendre’ - literally translated it means ‘good hearts’, but phonetically also sounds like ‘bon soeurs’, meaning ‘good sisters’. Together the two have created a spiritual world of homeware decorated with dreamlike imagery of hands and hearts.

Hampson Woods

A brand based closer to home, Hampsons Woods are a British studio creating elegant chopping boards. The wood is sourced from arborists who specialise in clearing fallen trees from in and around London, which is then fashioned into exquisitely crafted wooden boards. Recognizable for their languid curves and long handles, Hampson Woods’ pieces maintain the vitality of mother nature and the beauty of her organic creations.
