Every year I either vow to get ahead and organised with my Halloween ideas or I plan to avoid it altogether. And every year I’m swept up in the increasing swell of popularity, but it hits me too late. Gah! No costume! Or themed dinner party or plastic pumpkin to collect sweets in, or any kind of plan whatsoever. So whilst I shall probably fail myself again this year, I’d like to take the time to furnish you with the correct prep, so you can do better than me. Welcome to the Liberty Halloween Starter Pack. Barbie Girl
Since that Harley Quinn phenomenon, Halloween has anointed an annual cult hero. The costume of the year, based on popular culture, and we are registering our predictions here. In the perfect balance of zeitgeist plus achievability, No. 1 has to be cult pinup of plastic fantastic herself: Barbie, as portrayed onscreen by Margot Robbie. Who even are you at your halloween party if you’re not sporting a glossy blonde wig, a tiara and pink from head to toe? (So easy). I need little excuse or encouragement to invest in something super special. The way I see it, saving any spare wages for jewellery makes basic sense, because it is the ultimate multi tasker. This can be costume jewellery in its most literal form on 31st October, but then just a beautiful pair of earrings, like the Mateo's 14ct Gold Rose Quartz and Baroque Pearl Drops, £580 you can wear forever after that. Easy justification, right?

The Ready To Wear
If you are more inclined to lean into the easiest possible option, you need a single item that will transform your entire look into party-ready. Or trick-or-treat ready. Or answer-the-door-to-kids ready (to compensate for your negligent lack of sweet treats). The novelty Christmas glasses thing has extended to Halloween, and there are some legitimately stylish options available this year in the Liberty Christmas Store. Hair Raising Heroes
Literally. I’d hazard that four out of five costumes will benefit from some kind of hair structure, and I’d recommend avoiding seriously extreme hold, because fear of the next morning (and it being a work day) is a horror show in itself. You can work wonders with a clever combination of Hair by Sam McKnight Cool Girl Volume Blow Dry Foam 150ml, £32, flexi hairspray and some smart accessories, and in theory should brush out before bed. You’ll need a good brush too. And a little hair rehab for your morning wash.

House of Horrors
Our passion for spooky endeavours has evolved from cos-play to chic interiors. If you’re beyond trick or treating, but want to celebrate an occasion like any other, you’ll likely throw a dinner party or some kind of social event. Nod to the festivities with a collection of ‘heirloom’ pumpkins (not the official term, but like those fancy tomatoes) as a centrepiece.
