But one fragrance brand rewriting the rulebook entirely is BIBBI Parfum, the new and very blue perfume line that has just landed exclusively at Liberty, bringing with it six ethereal scents. But if you ask us, Ghost of Tom, £225 for 100ml, is the one you want to smell first.
The Rise to Fame
BIBBI Parfum is the brainchild of Swedish-born creative designer, Stina Bibbi Seger, alongside her husband, Jan Vilhelm Ahlgren – yes, the very genius that brought us Vilhelm Parfumerie. But where most fragrance brands draw their inspiration from tangible moments in the world around them, BIBBI Parfum takes an altogether more otherworldly approach. In fact, each scent is inspired by Seger’s transportive and transformative experiences with ancient meditation practices to tell fascinating stories of other times, places, realms and ideas.
The Credentials
BIBBI Parfum’s opening line-up comprises six scents, but there’s something about The Ghost of Tom that makes it a stand-out. It was conjured up to replicate the tea-like scent supposedly left in the wake of unearthly spirits as they pass you by. Spooky? A little. Delicious? Completely, featuring moreish notes of black tea and bergamot.
