Bartholomew Bear is Back at Liberty: Here’s Everything you Need to Know

The beloved, highly coveted bear, complete with Liberty print accessories, returns to celebrate our 150th anniversary

By: Team Liberty

If you go down to Great Marlborough Street today, you’re in for a big surprise… That is, if you’re visiting on Wednesday 30th of April 2025, when one of Liberty’s best-loved, highly coveted friends returns to store, ready to celebrate our 150th anniversary.

Exclusively available at Liberty, Jellycat's limited-edition Bartholomew Bear features Liberty print paw pads, patterned ears and a dapper matching scarf – plus his signature, super soft toffee-toned fluff and cuddly character. With four different Liberty prints across the collection, each print tells a different story of Liberty’s design heritage across the generations.

Liberty Bartholomew Bear Elysian Day

These bespoke bears made their Liberty debut in 2022, and marks the meeting of two British icons. Both Liberty and Jellycat are British born and raised, with a commitment to creativity, curiosity and eclectic design that have captivated customers for generations.

Like Liberty’s own collections: Jellycat designs all its products in London, and Bartholomew Bear is no different. Whether a bedtime buddy for a little one or a treasured collectible destined for display: the Bartholomew Bear remains a British icon – especially with his charming Liberty print makeover.

Liberty Bartholomew Bear Poppy Forest

The Liberty and Jellycat teams worked closely together to select the prints for Bartholomew’s accessories, with the final selected designs encapsulating Liberty’s artisanal heritage and history, as well as Jellycat’s joyful characters.

“We carefully selected prints that celebrated the heritage yet timelessness of Liberty design,” explains Calum Wild, Liberty buyer. “In our 150th year, it was important for us that each print celebrated a different design era. For example, Poppy Forest is one of our earliest prints still in our collection, dating back to 1917. Whilst D’Anjo was a key print for the Art Nouveau period, designed in the 1930s and worn on many famous garments ever since."

The four prints are:

Liberty Bartholomew Bear D’Anjo – A joyful 1930s floral created by the legendary Silver Studio
Liberty Bartholomew Bear Elysian Day – A retro-infused bloom, first spotted in the 1910s
Liberty Bartholomew Bear Wiltshire – A fresh take on Liberty’s classic berry print, redrawn in delicate scale
Liberty Bartholomew Bear Poppy Forest – A wild meadow dream, evolved from the original Poppy & Daisy, dating back to 1917

These limited-edition bears will exclusively be available at Liberty from Wednesday 30th April 2025.

Please note that as a result of Batholomew Bear's popularity, only one of each bear may be purchased per customer.
