Stretching along Great Marlborough Street, the Liberty windows are famed for their innovative, all-encompassing displays. In this series, our Visual Concept Team unveils the stories behind them - from initial moodboards, to completed masterpiece.

The Home of the Artistic Shopper celebrates eccentric interiors in all their forms – an ode to creative self-expression within the domestic space. In the windows, this is translated into expressive, Matisse-inspired graphics, and intimate snapshots of the home, curated with a lived-in feel, and cloaked in a vibrant palette, where sharp acid hues contrast pastels and rich neutrals. Turn every room into a living masterpiece. To all artistic shoppers: welcome home.

“The campaign visuals are all about that sneak peek into a Liberty home, whether it be a luxurious new handbag flung on the coat rack, the smartest shoes tucked below your favourite armchair, or toys mid play across the dinner table. It is these intimate moments that show a home’s real character.”

“Taking a snapshot of these moments, we were inspired by Matisse cut-outs to create abstract windows, looking through into the home of the artist shopper.”

We wanted to create windows that were playful and fun to engage with, peering from room to room and finding magic in every nook and cranny

“While our store is undergoing its restoration, it has been covered by hoarding, making the windows a little more discreet than normal. So, we wanted to create windows that were playful and fun to engage with, bringing that magical Liberty shopping experience, peering from room to room and finding magic in every nook and cranny to life in our windows.”

“On each pane of glass, we have created these fun little cut-outs as if abstract windows, some you might have to get on your tip toes and some crouch right down in order to see what’s inside. But when you do look inside, you will see a brilliant little moment of a true Liberty home.”

The colour palette was more important than ever – we were really inspired by artist Ulla von Brandenburg’s work and how she layers colour together

“The structure of the window is very clean and simple this time, so the colour palette was more important than ever. When we did the campaign images, we were really inspired by artist Ulla von Brandenburg’s work and how she layers colour together. This informed the palette of fresh pinks and baby blues, mixed with sharp chartreuse, rich browns and classic navys – perfect as we transition into autumn.”
