COLLECTION
In celebration of 150 years of Liberty, ‘From the Studio’ for AW25 stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the London design house. Paying homage to the dedicated artisanship that Liberty has been renowned for since the opening of its Regent Street flagship in 1875, this collection explores the creatives who have shaped the story so far. Divided into three distinct narratives – Craftsmanship, Collaboration, and Collectibles – ‘From the Studio’ unveils design sketches and archival studies, shedding light on Liberty ’s innovative artistic practice. This collection reveals the journey from inspiration through drawing, painting, and experimenting with digital artwork to the final printed textile.
Taking cues from the stylistic attributes of the 1960s Art Nouveau revival era, Prospect Avenue was hand-painted in the design studio and reflects some of the motifs found in Bernard Nevill’s ever-popular Prospect Road pattern. Infused with vibrant retro vibes, its prominent petals were drawn with bold outlines and filled with flat colour, detailed curves, stripes, scribbles, and dashes. This print is part of the anniversary collection’s final chapter, Collectibles. Offering a design for each decade, this timeline of hero prints encapsulates 150 years - exploring the design house’s varied and influential handwriting while honouring key moments of creativity and discovery.
Crepe de chine is one of the best silk bases for daytime wear – it’s effortlessly luxe, with a lightweight drape that’s made more durable by its matte, slightly rough surface. Try using crepe de chine to create a louche effect with wide-leg trousers and loosely tailored shirts, or with fluted sleeves and ruffled accents for a romantic feel.
