Visionary set designer Shona Heath brings her fantastical touch to Liberty print, in a unique new collaboration created for the Liberty Fabrics Design Series. Inspired by Philip Ridley’s 1996 children’s book The Hooligan’s Shampoo, Heath constructed miniature sculptures in her studio from everyday corner shop objects – off-kilter scenes of rubber-band bows, flowers made from washing up sponges, and discarded banana skins were painted into beautiful artworks by the Liberty Fabrics team, appearing here in a parade of vibrant colours and textures.

Cotton Balls is created by lightly sponged layers of gouache paint, lending the design an airy tumbling feeling. This medium-scale design pays homage to traditional screen-printed layers, with light and shade picked up through stencilled shapes and overlapping areas of colours.
Our Tana Lawn™ cotton is a fabric built by obsession, perfected into a modern masterpiece of production through a bespoke process that has evolved over a century. Printed in our very own Liberty Printing Mill, located between Milan and Lake Como in northern Italy, Tana realises unmatchable fluidity with a silk-like touch, unique print quality and striking colour vibrancy. Machine washable and durable enough for daily wear, it can be used to create everything from simple separates to spectacular statement pieces.
