Vanilj eau de parfum from Maya Njie is a traditionally sweet genderless perfume of powdery gourmand notes – available exclusively at Liberty London.

Inspired by a family photo album from before she was born, Maya Njie's fragrances bottle the spirit connected to the classic 1970's Scandinavian idyll, combined with the soul of her esoteric Gambian heritage. Blended, bottled and labelled in her London studio, Vanilj identifies as Nordic Cedar's sweeter, more softly spoken sibling, based on the traditional Swedish combination of vanilla and cardamom. Spiced, earthy notes of cedarwood and patchouli are tamed by vanilla – spiking the elixir with a deliciously boozy bourbon facet.

About Maya Njie
Raised in Sweden and degree-educated in London, artist Maya Nije found her niche in perfumery after experimenting with sense of smell as a medium to capture precious moments in time. Tapping into the notion of synaesthesia, Maya interprets found family photographs through personal fragrance – bottling the spirit connected to the classic 1970's Scandinavian idyll combined with the soul of her esoteric Gambian heritage. Handcrafted in small batches in the perfumer’s London studio, these contemporary, genderless fragrances are infused with a comforting measure of nostalgia.
