Classic Arts and Crafts motifs, intricate detail and rich hues populate our new fabric capsule, conceptualised and designed in the Liberty Fabrics’ studio as part of our collaboration with the William Morris Gallery - here printed onto silk for a vibrant finish. Adding another chapter to the storied history between our two brands, for The Art of Craft collection the designers have taken inspiration from May Morris - daughter of William Morris - a lesser known yet important part of the Arts and Crafts Movement as an embroidery and jewellery designer and maker Featuring an entirely new print created especially for this collection as well as archival William Morris designs and past patterns that were inspired by him – this collection invites you to delve into the Arts and Crafts style which heroes nature and motifs created by hand, reinvigorated though the influence of a previously overlooked figure.
A luxurious and richly decorated botanical, Tulip Flourish was originally hand-painted as a Liberty scarf in 1993. Taking inspiration from quintessential Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts motifs, this pattern is arranged in a mirrored layout, featuring symmetrical flowers surrounded by elegant curves and scrolling leaves.
The design is printed with acid dyes for high quality colour rendering on our sophisticated Monument silk twill – a fabric prized for breathability and moisture permeability, making it effortlessly trans-seasonal. Comfortable and versatile, use this fabric for a variety of projects from elegant eveningwear to chic pieces to add to your daily edit, such as billowing shirting and sleek wrap skirts.
