The story of Houbigant is the story of modern perfume. Set up in a little shop on the rue du Faubourg de Saint-Honoré in 1775 by a young Jean-Francois Houbigant, the company quickly became party to history. Houbigant fragrances were brought to the guillotine by Marie-Antoinette, taken across Europe by Napoleon, and worn by the family of Russia’s last tsar. Houbigant was the first to isolate a scent molecule and is the creator of the fougère, still the most popular family of men’s fragrances. The brand’s newest formula is from 2017 and its oldest is from 1882.
