Editor's Notes

The term "chintz" refers to the hand-painted cotton fabrics imported from India in the 17th and 18th centuries, which had a significant influence on European pattern design. This highly intricate, fantastical floral takes inspiration from an early example of Liberty's chintz furnishing fabrics, reworked to contemporary effect in the London design studio and further modernised by the subtle use of a printed metallic overlay.

Liberty Fabrics’ Crepe de chine is one of the best silk bases for daytime wear – it’s effortlessly luxe, with a lightweight drape that’s made more durable by its matte, slightly rough surface. Try using crepe de chine to create a louche effect with wide-leg trousers and loosely tailored shirts, or with fluted sleeves and ruffled accents for a romantic feel.
