To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the reopening of the William Morris Gallery, key archive objects from their collection that were significant to the lives of Morris, his family and his friends are being reimagined and produced by contemporary designers, artists and makers. Each of these special products in the William and May Archive Collection embody the spirit of handmaking, the principle of finding joy in labour and support the education and community activities of the gallery in Walthamstow, London.

Handmade by Gemima London, this everyday bag is just the thing for toting books, food market shopping and on-the-go finds. The print echoes the exquisite embroideries of May Morris - a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Arts & Crafts style design, it was meticulously hand-painted in our Liberty London studio. Adorned with intricate botanical details, May’s Orchard features an array of blooming flowers and spring blossom, intertwined with trailing foliage and a variety of delectable orchard fruits. Drenched in richly saturated colour and soft watercolour washes, this sophisticated structured repeat is a celebration of spring, captured through a quintessential Liberty lens.
