The Earthly Paradise collection, created in collaboration with the William Morris Gallery, celebrates the homes of British artists who were pivotal in changing the way we live over the last 200 years. Marking the Earthly Paradise: Radical Living in the UK exhibition, Liberty Fabrics pays tribute to figures including Oscar Wilde, William De Morgan, Kate Faulkner and William Morris with a series of 13 captivating artworks showcasing rural landscapes, ceramics and textiles, and richly decorated interiors against a backdrop of dense botanicals, stylised florals, wild flora and swaying leaves through a distinctly Liberty lens. Each design is meticulously hand-painted in our Liberty Fabrics’ London studio and printed on our inimitable Tana Lawn™ cotton.
Cedric Morris (1889-1982) combined a remarkable gift for colour in painting with an equally influential career as a plantsman, creating a radical art school at Benton End, Suffolk, which became a celebrated centre of artistic and horticulturalist creativity. Lockwood was inspired by Morris’ botanical paintings, showcasing a medley of wild flora drawn in vibrant pencil crayon hues and catalogued here in this celebration of colour and form.
Our Tana Lawn™ cotton is a fabric built by obsession, perfected into a modern masterpiece of production through a bespoke process that has evolved over a century. Printed in our own Liberty Printing Mill in northern Italy, Tana realises unmatchable fluidity with a silk-like touch, unique print quality and striking colour vibrancy. Machine washable and durable enough for daily wear, it is perfect for both simple separates and spectacular statement pieces.
