Just as a gardener cultivates their garden in preparation for the seasons ahead, Design Nature Art by Liberty Fabrics honours the quiet transformations that unfold with time. Curated through three distinct chapters: Story Garden, Gallery Garden, and Painted Garden, this series celebrates the profound connection between creativity and the cultivated world where history, imagination, and artistic expression bloom in unison.
This striking two-tone pattern originated from a collection of mid-19th century Japanese Katagami paper stencils, unearthed in the Liberty archive. Typically crafted by skilled artisans who carve intricate patterns into washi paper, these stencils reflect centuries of refined technique. Showcasing bold, graphic florals set against an ikat-style striped background, this balanced yet captivating print celebrates the mastery and craftsmanship of time-honoured Japanese traditions. This print is part of the second chapter in this collection, Gallery Garden, which explores the history of gardens and the artistry inspired by verdant spaces throughout time. From Egyptian and Roman influences to Persian miniature gardens and Japanese zen landscapes, it reflects an evolution of beauty, structure, and creative freedom cultivated through the ages.
Crepe de chine is one of the best silk bases for daytime wear – it’s effortlessly luxe, with a lightweight drape that’s made more durable by its matte, slightly rough surface.
