Editor's Notes

The Il Leone necklace is a signature gold-plated design from Alighieri - the London-based jewellery brand named after the renowned Italian poet, Dante, and inspired by the designer's literary background.

Each Alighieri piece is inspired by a different poem from Dante's Divine Comedy. The Il Leone necklace is crafted from an antique Venetian coin, recovered and restored with Alighieri wax and strung onto a fine gold-plated trace chain - the engraved lion design references Dante's own confrontation with a lion in the poem. A modern heirloom, it is an ultra-wearable statement piece that can be passed from generation to generation.
