About Pleats Please Issey Miyake
Japanese designer Issey Miyake founded the Miyake Design Studio in Tokyo in 1970. Miyake quickly became known for his groundbreaking pleating techniques; using heat to imbue fabric with a ‘memory’ that keeps pleats in place. Pleats Please launched in 1993 as a capsule collection of Miyake’s patented pleating and today incorporates sculptural dresses, jackets and separates.
