Editor's Notes

A couture kimono-inspired Oriental coat cut from lustrous sapphire blue satin - a rare piece selected from Liberty’s designer vintage archive, available exclusively online.

This vibrant coat from the early 1950s is adorned with intricate hand-embroidered satin stitching. The beautiful design depicts blooming chrysanthemums, Adonis flowers, forget me nots, buds and foliage, all in shades of lava red, hot pink, ochre, chocolate-brown, aureolin yellow and platinum grey. Finished with its original flat belt and fully lined in midnight blue silk satin, this is truly a stand-out piece in any collection.
