Liberty Fabrics
Great Missenden Silk Chiffon
Editor's Notes
Great Missenden is based on an archival paisley design dating from the 1980s, which in turn drew on elements from several mid-nineteenth century shawl patterns. Named after the Buckinghamshire village where our founder Arthur Liberty had his country home, this classic paisley is characterised by its intricately flourishing frills and fronds.
Our 10 momme silk chiffon is lightweight and diaphanous, with a slippery smooth hand-feel. Its delicately transparent qualities mean it’s well-suited for use in sleeves or statement panels, or as a layer on floaty dresses or sheer tops.

COLLECTION
For the first time, Liberty Fabrics has produced a range of our most beloved Classic designs on our favourite silk bases. Silk is woven into the history of Liberty – the original product sold when we opened our doors in 1875, it was prized for its incomparable lustrousness, colouring and tactility by an artistically-minded Victorian clientele. The Classic Silk Collection offers fresh versions of some of our most well-loved designs (including Art Nouveau, paisleys, landscapes and ditsy florals), reworked and recoloured for an opulent and yet utterly modern approach to iconic Liberty silks.
