Bobbi Knot Hoxton Velvet
Painted using a sponge technique, Bobbi Knot depicts bows and knots in bold duotone colour. The shapes were made up using foam tubes, before being painted and worked digitally into a scatter repeat.
Hoxton Velvet has an opulently soft hand-feel, with a drape and flow that makes it well-suited to soft styling pieces – use it to construct elegant palazzo trousers, fluid shirting and lined dresses. The deep colour penetration results in a rich, luxurious and expressive interpretation of the pattern.
“Hand knotted and bowed foam tubes form the artwork for this simple but joyful print, the squash and squeeze of them giving the design movement and depth. The shapes were simplified and gently sponged through stencils, to give an icing sugar effect.” – Shona Heath

Visionary set designer Shona Heath brings her fantastical touch to Liberty print, in a unique new collaboration created for the Liberty Fabrics Design Series. Inspired by Philip Ridley’s 1996 children’s book The Hooligan’s Shampoo, Heath constructed miniature sculptures in her studio from everyday corner shop objects – off-kilter scenes of rubber-band bows, flowers made from washing up sponges, and discarded banana skins were painted into beautiful artworks by the Liberty Fabrics team, appearing here in a parade of vibrant colours and textures.
