Drawing on the designer's Lebanese background, the Gemma collection recalls the flowers that cover the walls of the houses in the Beirut district of Achrafieh each spring. Handcrafted in Beirut from 18 carat rose gold, this high-polished ring features a single vivid green emerald in a simple claw setting, framed by ivory enamel edging and baguette cut white diamond side stones. Born into a family of jewellers, French-Lebanese designer Selim Mouzannar spent much of his childhood in his father’s workshop in the historical jewellery souks of Beirut. From there, he went on to study mineralogy in France and Belgium, manage jewellery workshops in Saudi Arabia and work as a stone hunter in Thailand’s ruby mines. In 1993 he launched his eponymous jewellery line - drawing inspiration from the Ottoman Empire, Art Deco architecture and the Mediterranean Sea, each piece is handcrafted in his Beirut workshop with finishes ranging from vibrant enamel to glittering coloured gems.
