Merchant Hoxton Velvet

Liberty Fabrics’ Merchant print gets a sumptuous treatment in the tactile silk-blend of Hoxton Velvet.

Merchant is an ornamental design redrawn from a large-scale archival Liberty artwork. Its ikat-style geometric shapes overlap and merge into an all-over tapestry effect. Hoxton Velvet has a soft and fluid hand-feel, with a drape and flow that makes it well-suited to soft styling pieces – use it to construct elegant palazzo trousers, lined dresses and flowing midi skirts. The deep colour penetration results in a rich, luxurious and expressive interpretation of the pattern.

For Autumn/Winter 2019’s Aesthetic Renaissance collection, Liberty Fabrics’ in-house design team drew inspiration from the adventurous life and artistic inspirations of our founder, Sir Arthur Lasenby Liberty. Traveller, tastemaker and gentleman, Arthur’s passion for globetrotting and treasure-hunting with his wife Emma forms the basis of Liberty’s enduring appeal. Inspirations swing from expeditions in faraway lands to the peace and quiet of English country gardens, via the opulent styles of Art Nouveau and the Aesthetic Movement.
