Created exclusively for Liberty with a limited-edition Ianthe print label, Casale del Giglio’s Petit Verdot is an award-winning red wine from Lazio, Italy, produced using the best Petit Verdot grapes from the 2019 vintage.

Elegant and full-bodied, this deep crimson wine displays an intense, lingering aroma of red berry fruit, cherry, myrtle and juniper with a spicy, white peppery finish that pairs perfectly with oven roasted lamb cutlets. To create the wine, very ripe Petit Verdot grapes are vinified using the submerged cap technique to extract the grape’s softer tannins and maintain its rich depth of colour. Founded by Dr. Berardino Santarelli in 1967, Casale del Giglio is situated in the Agro Pontino Valley about 50km south of Rome. Unlike other parts of the Latium region, this territory was still uncharted in viticultural terms when Berardino Santarelli and his son Antonio launched their research project in 1985, planting almost 60 different experimental varietals. The winery, which today owns 180 hectares of vineyards, has received high praise in both the Italian and international markets for its award-winning single-variety labels and blends, affirming their status as the pioneers of critically acclaimed wines from Lazio.
