Balenciaga

Founded in 1919, Cristóbal Balenciaga’s namesake fashion house was favoured by royalty, both Hollywood-born and aristocratic. The designer’s empire-line and balloon-shaped tailoring pioneered a new female silhouette. In 2015, eyebrows were raised as Balenciaga appointed design collective Vetements’ head designer Demna Gvasalia as its new creative director. Collections have stayed true to Cristóbal’s forward-thinking mindset by constantly superseding the zeitgeist – expect hyped collections of cultural phenomenon-appropriating, luxurious streetwear.
