Alicia Bell Crepe de Chine
Originally hand-painted by the Liberty design studio in 1957, Alicia Bell is a sweetly trailing botanical that pays homage to classic ‘30s-style Tana Liberty prints. A variety of flowers including buttercups, sweet pea and morning glory were redrawn with a very fine outline, with a subtle shadowed effect added to create a sense of depth and richness.
Crepe de chine is one of the best silk bases for daytime wear – it’s effortlessly luxe, with a lightweight drape that’s made more durable by its matte, slightly rough surface. Try using crepe de chine to create a louche effect with wide-leg trousers and loosely tailored shirts, or with fluted sleeves and ruffled accents for a romantic feel.
