Unframed Nana Liberty Art Print
This unframed Liberty art print was created in collaboration between Liberty Fabrics and artist-printmaker Nana Shiomi.
Each reflecting a different influential facet of art and design, our From Japan With Love prints were created by artists working across a wide range of graphic, textile and fine art mediums, then transformed into a repeat layout by our in-house London design team. Nana Shiomi’s artwork takes the idea of a grid as its format, honouring her practice of creating pictorial series within a set of square dimensions using Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock techniques. Symbolic figures such as bonsai trees, waves and a dog interact between the different squares, adding a sense of playfulness that brings the print to life. Hang the print alone or incorporate it into a gallery wall to bring a little print magic to your space.
“I am always interested in the interplay of East and West and I am also interested in theatre – there is something quite theatrical about Nana Shiomi’s designs. The carp fighting the violent waves, but especially the little squares with various creatures treading the boards.” – Anna Buruma, Liberty Head Archivist
