Designed by Dirk van der Kooij, the Stop Stool is a unique piece of forever furniture, molded through the use of a giant 3D printer.
A playful design icon, the futuristic character of the Stop Stool is owed entirely to its production. Composed of a series of fat, broken lines, the stool gains structure as molten plastic ribbons overlap in three key points. The wide strokes of printed material lend themselves to rich pigmentation, taking full advantage of painterly joys of this dough-like material. Stackable, friendly, and functional, this sturdy little tripod is a lesson in simplicity.
