Shiomi Tana Lawn™ Cotton
Taking the koi fish as its motif, this print was created using a traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock craft by artist Nana Shiomi, that showcases the technique’s iconic tonal texture. With its fish jumping among crashing cascades, this lively print is full of movement and energy.
Our Tana Lawn™ cotton is a fabric built by obsession, perfected into a modern masterpiece of production through a bespoke process that has evolved over a century. Printed in our very own Liberty Printing Mill, located between Milan and Lake Como in northern Italy, Tana realises unmatchable fluidity with a silk-like touch, unique print quality and striking colour vibrancy. Machine washable and durable enough for daily wear, it can be used to create everything from simple separates to spectacular statement pieces.
“I am always interested in the interplay of East and West and I am also interested in theatre – there is something quite theatrical about Nana Shiomi’s designs. The carp fighting the violent waves, but especially the little squares with various creatures treading the boards.” – Anna Buruma, Head Archivist
