Established in the middle of the 19th century by the wonderfully playful Portuguese designer Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro, the brand that bears his name has become something of an institution in his native country. Taking inspiration from the natural world – from dogs, owls, red peppers and, most famously, from cabbages – the brand uses traditional techniques to make its inimitable ceramics.
