Editor's Notes

A mounted butterfly display from the entomological collection of London-based dealers of antiques and natural curiosities, Les Couilles du Chien – presented in an ebonised frame that’s unique to Liberty.

Papilio Ulysses is named after the eponymous hero from Homer’s Odyssey. The species is known for the flashes of luminous blue caused by the flap of its wings in flight, which is used by females to attract a mate. A stunning specimen, it has been set and mounted in the UK in Les Couilles du Chien’s own workshop. Hang this framed display on a wall with other curios, illustrations and prints from your travels.

About Les Couilles du Chien

Les Couilles du Chien proprietor Jerome Dodd has been trading on Golborne Road in West London for over 25 years – under a cheeky name that’s part Parisian élan, part Cockney rhyming slang. Purveyor of antique curios, extraordinary curiosities and rare natural history finds, Les Couilles du Chien is a true cave of wonders that feels tailor-made for romantics and eccentrics. A go-to for conversation-starting home décor.
