@LibertyLondon

More than a store, Liberty is a movement; dedicated to discovery, animated by arts, culture, design and the pursuit of beauty. Today, Liberty London is famed for its original curation, directional design and celebration of craftsmanship. In the spirit of our pioneering founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty, we remain unapologetically eccentric and committed to bringing good design to all. This summer we launch 'What a Liberty'; a celebration of our legacy that recognises the original print designs from our in-house studio, collaborations with progressive artists and designers and boundary-pushing new technologies in fabrics.

LIBERTY LONDON COLLECTION

The Liberty London portfolio is as varied and kaleidoscopic as our history - from Little Liberty childrenswear and cutting-edge new men's shirt styles to Art Nouveau-inspired decorative ceramics, decadent printed homewares and Iphis accessories favourites, each diverse collection channels a distinctively Liberty mood and attitude.

RICHARD QUINN X LIBERTY LONDON

This year we launch a range of mischievously inventive accessories designed by rising fashion star (and habitual Liberty print-lover) Richard Quinn, who reimagines classic Liberty florals like Carline and Dahlia with an acidically modern twist.

FLORENCE X LIBERTY LONDON

Singer/songwriter Florence Welch worked with our in-house design studio to curate a limited-edition silk sleepwear collection for Autumn/Winter 2018, comprising six botanical designs in a mixture of new and best-selling shapes. Florence explains: "As a Liberty print obsessive, I was honoured that Liberty allowed me to trawl though their archives to create this collection."

LIBERTY FABRICS & PRINT

For our Autumn/ Winter 2018 collection, A Palace Garden, the Liberty design team drew inspiration from the decadent glamour of Eltham Palace - translating the house and grounds' Art Deco style into prints that sing with vibrancy and rhythm. The in-house print designers are a cornerstone of the Liberty aesthetic, drawing from our vast archive to produce each new collection. They work by hand to create the initial designs (using gouache, watercolour, pencil and even crayons), which are then mastered into repeats with cutting-edge digital software.

A famous masterpiece of fabric technology, Tana Lawn is fine, cool and durable with a silk-like feel and brilliant reproduction of Liberty's lustrous prints. Made from specially selected ultra-fine long staple cotton, its bespoke process has been fine-tuned by Liberty Fabric experts over the last 100 years, advancing the product in pinpoint detail. Today, Tana Lawn is a process of continual improvement; a living, breathing thing that continually evolves as Liberty Fabric refines its methods and works with new technologies.

Fabric is at the heart of Liberty, and we have our own print factory in Italy. Located between the boulevards of Milan and the banks of Lake Como, Stamperia Olonia uses both traditional screen printing and pioneering digital technology to illustrate our designs down to every intricate detail. The factory is committed to sustainability - it doesn't use toxic dyes or heavy metals, and is certified with the highest Oeko-Tex level of 'Standard 100' as well as by the BCI (British Cotton Initiative).

LIBERTY LONDON LOVERS

Designers are following in the footsteps of Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s, Louis Vuitton and Supreme in the 2000s and Loewe last season, by reinterpreting our archival designs into their latest collections. Lynn Yeager at Vogue advises readers to "indulge a longing for Liberty" this summer with a Horror Vacui peasant blouse or Joseph silk dress. The Vampire's Wife, Acne Studios, Sessùn and Paul Smith are among the latest names to follow this trend, using Liberty prints in a variety of bold silhouettes that run the gamut from motorcycle jackets to '70s-inspired prairie dresses.

This year we invited three cutting-edge young designers from the London College of Fashion to create pieces using designs from our SS18 Alpine Symphony collection. Their directional, contemporary pieces epitomise the pioneering spirit of Liberty - supporting the designers of the future with a tireless focus on reinvention.
