As menswear becomes more experimental, designers are starting to create men’s jewellery that breaks the mould. From rhodium-plated rope bracelets and marbled signet rings, to twisted earrings and hammered gold pendant necklaces, a new wave of contemporary brands is creating stand-out pieces that are by no means an afterthought. Here we shine a light on some of the exciting names creating luxury men’s jewellery that deserves a place in your wardrobe.
Noticing a lack of designer jewellery for men, Stockholm-based Jakob Skragge and Frederik Nathorst launched All Blues in 2010. “Jewellery was initially a rational decision based on the fact that men’s jewellery was unheard of in our home town Stockholm at that time,” they tell us. Their organic designs draw inspiration from “real life events, nature, random objects, thoughts’, and are all “made by hand in Stockholm by a third-generation goldsmith studio”.
Maria Black, the Danish-Irish designer known for her sleek Scandinavian designs, moved into our menswear department last year. “My designs are often androgynous so, we started noticing lots of guys buying it,” she reveals. “They really showed me the way and I realised it’s an exciting time to design jewellery for men. Social norms are disintegrating and being redefined, and what is emerging is a much more boundless approach to jewellery designs for men. Men everywhere are making bold statements with their styling choices and it’s a joy to facilitate the disbarment of ‘bolt and nut jewellery’ in favour of more artistic and intellectual designs.”
