Supper, dinner - call it what you will: we all have our own style when it comes to serving up and gathering people around the table. Keen to explore the art of the feast, we’re inviting ourselves into the homes of our brand founders, designers, and allies – getting a taste of their dining and hosting habits. In this instalment, we drop in on supper club host and TV presenter, Laura Jackson.
I spend most of my time in the kitchen – that really is the hub of our house. It’s where we listen to music, cook, chat and drink wine.
I would say my entertaining style is elaborate. I love having people for dinner and spoiling them. Lots of lovely food and wine. Nights at my house end in one of two ways; Dirty Dancing sound track table dancing or extreme Uno.
Film soundtracks are my favourite; Dirty Dancing, The Descendants or Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
Dream guests would be Claudia Winkleman because she is fabulous, David Attenborough so he could tell us some amazing wildlife stories, and Nigella – she can bring dessert.
My go-to recipe is slow cooked leg or shoulder of lamb. It’s so easy. Pop in a slow cooker the night before: when you wake up – it’s done. Serve with potatoes and a salad. Easy peasy.
My friends are amazing – they never come, eat and leave. They will always bring wine and help wash up. I just host here but everyone mucks in, so by the end of the night everything is washed up.
