For London designer, Olivia Rubin, colour always comes first. And, with her brand-new – and exclusive to Liberty – homewares, she’s painting her maximalist palettes across striped ceramics, soft-focus textiles and big, bold, ‘80s-inspired prints. Creating an Insta-ready aesthetic that brings a sense of play to space curation, she shares her top tips for styling every corner of your home – without holding back.

The Dining Table

“Our signature maximalist approach really lends itself to bold, statement tableware – perfect for hosting parties and celebrations of all sizes. Start with one of our tablecloths to set the mood, providing a grounding layer of colour, adding flowers and candles in tonal shades and varying heights for depth. Don't be afraid to mix and match prints – our ombré tablecloth and pastel stripe plates are a perfect pairing and create a fun dining experience.”

The Living Room

“The lounge should be a place to unwind and relax, but that doesn't mean it needs to be a boring or sterile environment. All the prints in our first collection take inspiration from our Future Inheritance range, featuring eclectic prints and rainbow stripes we are best known for. In the same way we mix and match prints in our womenswear, our cushions can be layered or used as accents. The knitted cushions have a lovely tactile quality – super cosy for long winter nights. If you have a reading chair or cosy nook in your home, use one cushion as a bold accent and drape a knitted throw over the back.”

The Kitchen

“Beautifully crafted tableware can lift and elevate your existing kitchen accessories and make a statement within your dining space. That's really what we wanted to do with this first collection. Our mugs, plates and bowls aim to introduce pattern and colour to your dinner table or cabinet in an unexpected and design-led way that is recognisable as Olivia Rubin and irresistibly retro at the same time. We love layering the green and pink check with a pastel stripe for brunch or afternoon tea.”

The Bed

“An easy update to refresh a space, an array of cushions brings any bedroom up to date. Be bold with a more-is-more approach, keeping bed linen neutral to let your cushions take centre stage. We love the attention to details on ours: ruffle or crochet bobble edging, and pastel floral embroidery. Extend this retro, kitsch feel into the rest of your space with furniture and decorative accessories, balanced by modern elements like wallpaper. For colder nights, add a sumptuous, printed quilt or cosy throw to the bottom of your bed. Our rainbow brights are a perfect mood-booster for the long winter ahead.”
