Creative Inspiration

All this time at home has been the perfect opportunity to brush up on my creative skills, I have tried everything from tie dye to air dry clay, quilting to candle making with varying degrees of success. It has been really nice to work with more traditional art mediums.

Coloured Pencils

As my sister is an artist and art teacher, I have done some of her online classes and felt really inspired. I wanted to start making postcards to send to loved ones I haven’t seen – the colour pencils were the most fun to create little doodles to send to people. The nice thing about sending them to loved ones is, even if they aren’t beautiful, people tend to appreciate the thought.

Watercolours

The watercolour sets remind me of my dad who is also doing watercolours of fun things like the vegetables from his garden and sending them to the rest of the family, I did my best to replicate this but there is just no comparison. Something to keep working on!

Oil Pastels

I have been following tattoo artist Gong Greem’s work and recently became obsessed with oil pastels. Her mark making is so beautiful and her colour palettes are really cool. I have never been much good with oil pastels but after looking at her work it’s been really fun to experiment and I ended up with a lot of pictures I really like – some might even make it into frames on our walls.
