When the classic smokey eye fails to deliver on drama, try a glossy, latex-effect lid using pitch black pigment. A lacquered, rough-and-ready eye look that will drive any outfit into high gear.

1. Outline eyes with Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Flibuste, softening the edges with a blending brush

2. Apply Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink across the entire upper eyelid, creating painterly uneven edges for an imperfect finish

3. Fill in lips with a soft nude like Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama

4. Blend a little Surratt Artistique Blush in Parfait into the apples of the cheeks

5. Swipe Nars Lip Gloss in Triple X over the lids for a high-gloss latex finish

Step outside your day-to-day and master vintage-made-modern polish, pairing multi-tonal bronze lids with matte red lips – a party-ready double act with shimmering impact.

1. Draw a fine line of Laura Mercier Inner Eye Definer Pencil in Brown Copper along the top lash line

2. Blend Hourglass Scattered Light Eyeshadow in Blaze, Reflect and Foil across the whole eyelid for a three-dimensional shimmer

3. Apply a few coats of Sisley So Curl Mascara to the lashes

4. Line and fill the lips with Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Red, following with Bobbi Brown Luxe Liquid Lip in Starlet Scarlet

5. Illuminate cheekbones and the inner eye with Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick in Gold Flash, finishing with a flush of Sisley Phyto Blush Eclat in Pinky Rose on cheeks

Outshine the disco ball with a softly-diffused glitter eye – one that only gets better, worn in after a few hours on the dancefloor. Keep it slick with perfect, dewy skin and glossed lips.

1. Apply a skin-friendly glitter glue across the entire eyelid

2. Layer loose glitter of different sizes, choosing shades of silver, pink and gold and pressing in with the fingertips to secure. We used Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow and Cover FX Shimmer Veil

3. Apply several coats of Nars Climax Mascara to top lashes only

4. Add a touch of Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder to the inner corner of the eyes and down the bridge of the nose

5. Finish with a slick of Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Love on lips
