Bobbi Knot Sycamore Linen
Painted using a sponge technique, Bobbi Knot depicts bows and knots in bold duotone colour. The shapes were made up using foam tubes, before being painted and worked digitally into a scatter repeat.
Sycamore Linen has a smooth hand-feel with a soft, rustic natural texture. The colour penetration is deep and even, with a slightly starchy draping that is well-suited for creating loose and fluid shapes – try using it to make light summery garments such as smocked dresses, wide-leg trousers or boxy shirting.
“Hand knotted and bowed foam tubes form the artwork for this simple but joyful print, the squash and squeeze of them giving the design movement and depth. The shapes were simplified and gently sponged through stencils, to give an icing sugar effect.” – Shona Heath

Visionary set designer Shona Heath brings her fantastical touch to Liberty print, in a unique new collaboration created for the Liberty Fabrics Design Series. Inspired by Philip Ridley’s 1996 children’s book The Hooligan’s Shampoo, Heath constructed miniature sculptures in her studio from everyday corner shop objects – off-kilter scenes of rubber-band bows, flowers made from washing up sponges, and discarded banana skins were painted into beautiful artworks by the Liberty Fabrics team, appearing here in a parade of vibrant colours and textures.
