Liberty Fabrics
Althea Trinidad Silk Satin
Editor's Notes
Inspired by Monet, Althea Trinidad transposes the humble English daisy into a landscape of tropical splendour. Alive with impressionistic styling, the print was originally created for Liberty in 1958 and printed at Liberty’s Merton Printworks.
The design is printed by experts in Italy onto our elegant, reflective 16 momme Belgravia silk satin – a fabric prized for its lustrous drape and fluidity, along with its luminously high-shine surface. Construct it into eveningwear pieces such as sheath gowns, or use it to create opulently wearable daytime designs like wrap dresses and flowing shirting.
Pricing: All fabrics are priced per metre length

COLLECTION
This collection celebrates the designs of Althea McNish, showcasing the Trinidadian designer’s unique eye for graphic, multi-layered prints in vividly tropical-infused shades. Hailing from Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, she moved to England in the 1950’s and subsequently revolutionised the world of post-war British textile design with her bold and beautiful prints – starting with her very first collection, created as a freelance commission for Liberty Fabrics in 1958. Recreated from Althea’s designs in the Liberty Archive the collection exhibits her vibrant florals and textural patterns in exciting new colourways.
