Editor's notes

The 1901 Ginger Jar from Moorcroft is a hand-painted slice of collectible history – a sublimely decorative piece for the home, featuring the venerable brand’s distinctive tubelining technique.

Moorcroft’s 1901 Ginger Jar is inspired by Blackwell – Baillie-Scott’s Grade I-listed Arts and Crafts house, nestled in the rolling landscape of the Lake District. Designer Nicola Slaney first visited the house many years ago, and remains enchanted by its leaf-shaped door handles, ornate wood panelling and opulent stained glass – for this design she pays homage to the bluebirds, ruby-red tulips and roses of the house’s grounds. Moorcroft’s collectible pieces have a long-standing heritage connection to Liberty London – sold in our emporium soon after the ceramic brand’s inception in 1897, each one is still painted and crafted by hand in Britain.

Please note: These pieces are crafted and painted by hand, therefore no two are exactly alike.

About

Moorcroft leads the world of art pottery with its own distinctive design style. With added value coming from the skills and craftsmanship of a dedicated workforce. Moorcroft is selling more of its magnificent ware all over the world today, than it did even in its previous heyday in the mid 1920's.
